A companion for birthdays, reunions and family events
Don't want to walk into a party alone? How to prepare a companion booking for birthdays, reunions, company parties and family events, honestly and safely.
Contents
Walking into some events alone just feels hard. A companion on ThueMi can keep you company at a relative's birthday, a class reunion, a company party or a family memorial meal. Here is how to prepare a clear, honest and safe booking.
Why some occasions feel hard to attend alone
- Feeling out of place: old classmates have their own circles and you are not sure where to stand.
- New in town: you just moved to TP.HCM, Hà Nội or Đà Nẵng and have nobody to invite yet.
- Introvert energy: you want to be there but need help with conversation.
- Practical help: carrying things, preparing food, company on the ride home.
A companion attends as a friend, not playing anyone else.
Tips for each occasion
A relative's birthday
Tell the host you are bringing a friend so they can plan seating. Agree in the booking who pays for any joint gift.
Class reunion
Share some basics: which class and school, a few names you might mention. Browse Meeting friends (reunions, birthdays).
Company and year-end parties
Check your company's rules first: are outside guests allowed, do they need registering? Ask your companion whether they are comfortable in group photos. For a colleague's wedding, see Parties and weddings.
Family anniversaries and memorial meals (đám giỗ)
Explain your family's customs, such as which elders to greet first. Browse Family occasions.
Brief your companion beforehand
In ThueMi chat, cover:
- Who will be there and who matters most to greet.
- Topics to avoid, such as salaries, marriage questions or a relative's recent loss.
- How you know each other: say honestly, "this is my friend". Never present them as your fiancé(e) or spouse; companions can refuse.
- Their role: conversation, helping out, or simply sitting with you.
Write the schedule and dress code in the booking; they only bind both sides when written and agreed.
Dress code, duration and costs
- Dress code: describe the mood (casual, formal, simple family meal) and any company theme.
- Hourly suits events with clear start and end times: 30.000đ–3.000.000đ per hour, max 12 hours per booking.
- Per session suits events that may run long: 50.000đ–20.000.000đ per session.
Each companion sets their own price within these limits; check reference prices on ThueMi. Taxis, gifts, parking and outfits should be written in the booking with who pays. Companions may not ask for more than the agreed price plus listed extras.
The private-home exception and drinking
ThueMi normally forbids meeting at private homes. The exception is an organised event written in the booking with relatives present, such as a grandparent's birthday meal at home.
Read the "Can / Can't" boundaries on the profile. If your companion doesn't drink, never push them, even when the whole table is toasting.
Safety for both sides
- Verified profiles: companions verify identity with CCCD (front, back, selfie), checked manually by ThueMi staff. Read boundaries, reviews, completion rate and cancellation/no-show counts.
- Public places: apart from the family-event exception, meet in restaurants or busy venues; arrange your own transport.
- SOS: the SOS button in an ongoing booking sends your location and booking details to the ThueMi safety team. In danger, call 113 or 115.
- Pay directly: transfer only to the account in the booking's "Thông tin chuyển khoản" (name must match the companion), or pay at the meeting. Never pay to details sent in chat. ThueMi does not hold booking money and staff never ask you to transfer it.
- Report and block anything that feels wrong.
- 18+ only, for customers and companions.

Frequently asked questions
How should I introduce my companion to my family?
Say honestly that they are your friend. Don't present them as your fiancé(e) or future spouse; it isn't honest and companions can refuse.
Can a companion attend a party at a private home?
Yes, if it is an organised family event with relatives present and written in the booking. Otherwise, all meetings must be in public places.
Should I book a class reunion by the hour or by session?
If the reunion has a clear end time, hourly is simple. If it tends to run long, a session saves renegotiating hours midway.
Who pays for gifts and taxis?
It's up to you both, but write it clearly in the booking before you meet.
