Booking a companion for a wedding, costs, choosing, etiquette
Got a wedding invitation but don't want to go alone? How to estimate costs, choose a companion, agree on boundaries and behave well at the party.
Contents
Invited to a wedding but would rather not walk into the banquet hall alone? A companion on ThueMi can attend as your friend, making the evening easier.
Reference costs and how to estimate
Each companion sets their own price within ThueMi's limits. The limits most relevant to weddings:
| Unit | ThueMi price limits |
|---|---|
| Per hour | 30.000đ – 3.000.000đ/hour (max 12 hours per booking) |
| Per session | 50.000đ – 20.000.000đ/session |
| Per package | 50.000đ – 30.000.000đ/package |
See reference prices on ThueMi in Parties and weddings.
Estimating the total
Total = unit price × quantity + extra costs written in the booking.
- Illustrative example: for an hourly package booked for 4 hours, the total is the hourly price times 4. A per-session package usually covers the whole party.
- Extra costs (taxis, parking): write who pays each item in the booking.
- The gift envelope (phong bì) is between you and the couple. Discuss it in chat beforehand; usually you give it and the companion does not contribute.
You pay no fee to ThueMi. You pay the companion directly.
How to choose
- Dress code: check photos and the voice sample; ask whether they have suitable clothes.
- Reviews and completion rate: read reviews from past bookings and check completion rate, cancellations and no-shows.
- Boundaries ("OK / Not OK"): weddings involve toasts. If the companion doesn't drink, respect it and don't let anyone pressure them.
No match yet? Post a request with the wedding day, city, hours and dress code to receive quotes. Browse by city: TP.HCM, Hà Nội, Đà Nẵng.
Introduce them honestly
Say simply: "This is my friend, joining me today." Never present them as a fiancé(e) or spouse or invent a story to impress anyone. Asking a companion to play another role goes against the community rules, and they can refuse.
How a wedding unfolds
| Part | What happens | Tips |
|---|---|---|
| Welcoming guests | Arrival, photos with the couple, envelopes | Meet first in the lobby or a café nearby and check in on ThueMi |
| Ceremony | Stage rituals, speeches, toasts | Stay quiet, silence your phone |
| Banquet | Dinner, mingling, performances | Eat and drink in moderation, respect drinking boundaries |
A wedding held at home is an allowed exception as an organised event with relatives present, but the address and hours must be in the booking. Don't move on to a second venue, such as karaoke, unless agreed in chat.
